Accounting management
The Accounting management chapter covers bookkeeping proper: the chart of accounts, the division of time into financial years, and the journal entries recorded against them.
This chapter is only visible to users holding the Accounting management right.
Modules in this chapter
| Module | Screen title | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Chart of accounts | Gestion du plan comptable | /plan-comptable |
| Financial years | Exercices comptables | /exercices-comptables |
| Journal entries | Écritures comptables | /ecritures-comptables |
In which order to approach them
The three modules read in the order in which they are set up:
- The chart of accounts defines what you post to. Nothing can be recorded as long as no accounts exist.
- The financial years define in which period you post, and until when that period stays editable.
- The journal entries are the daily work, which relies on the first two.
Accounting and sales management
Accounting can run on its own — you enter everything by hand — or be fed by purchases and sales.
This connection is set in Technical data → Application configuration, with three parameters:
| Parameter | Role |
|---|---|
| Enable accounting integration with purchases and sales | The master switch of the connection. |
| Accounting accounts for customers | The control accounts under which customers are attached. |
| Accounting accounts for suppliers | The control accounts under which suppliers are attached. |
When it is active, the sales and purchase screens check that the party concerned does have a subsidiary account before letting the operation through, and ask for one otherwise. See Sales management → Customers and Suppliers.
