Cheque

Purpose

This screen prints a cheque or a bill of exchange on your bank's pre-printed form. It does not keep a cheque register: it is a printing tool, which places the payee, the amount in figures, the amount in words, the town and the date in the right positions.

Converting the amount into words is automatic — that is the whole point of going through the application rather than filling the cheque in by hand.

A screen you do not open directly

You do not get here from the menu: the screen opens in a new tab, from the settlement of a supplier payable. It receives the settlement's details and simply lays them out.

Who can access this module?

The screen is reached from Payables, so by accounts holding the Financial management right.

The form template governs the whole placement

Each template describes the exact position of every item, in millimetres, for a given form. Choosing the wrong template shifts all the text outside the boxes.

If your bank does not appear in the list, contact support: templates are defined on the server side, not from the application.

The printing screen

The screen opens in preview mode: the cheque is shown with a frame and a positioning background, so you can check the placement before committing paper.

ButtonEffect
👁️ Mode Impression / Mode AperçuSwitches between the on-screen preview and the real print view.
🖨️ ImprimerLaunches the browser's print dialogue.
💾 ExporterExports the cheque produced.

A box summarises the number, the date and the amount in words as they will be printed.

Check the preview before committing a cheque

A cheque is a numbered form: a misaligned print makes it unusable and forces you to void it.

Before printing: switch to Mode Impression to see the real output, check the amount in words, the payee and the date, then do a test on a blank sheet which you can hold up against the cheque in the light.

In print mode, only printable items appear

The frame, the security background and the guides visible in preview are not printed: they are only there for on-screen checking. It is normal for the print view to look almost empty — the pre-printed form supplies the rest.

The amount in words

The amount is converted into words automatically, then split over two lines if necessary, depending on the width available on the form.

Always read the conversion back

The amount in words takes legal precedence over the amount in figures. The Montant en lettres box on the screen shows exactly what will be printed: read it back before launching the print.

Messages and troubleshooting

SituationMessageWhat to do
The Imprimer paiement button is greyed out in the settlement—The means of payment is neither Chèque nor Traite.
The text is misaligned on the form—The Type d'imprimé chosen does not match the chequebook. Try another, or contact support.
The cheque looks empty in print mode—Normal behaviour: only printable items are rendered.
The amount in words is cut off—Check the summary box; a very long amount is split over two lines.
The Imprimer button stays inactive—Not all the necessary details have been passed through: start the journey again from Payables.
Validation errors are displayedList under Erreurs de validationCorrect the details flagged in the printing window.
The tab does not open—Allow pop-ups for the site.

Known limitations in this version

  • The screen keeps no register: there is no list of cheques issued, no tracking of when they clear, and no reconciliation. Settlements are tracked in Payables.
  • The module is only reachable through the settlement journey: opening /cheque directly displays a cheque with demonstration values.
  • Form templates can neither be created nor edited from the application.
  • The cheque number displayed is not reconciled with your chequebook: there is no sequence managed by the application.
  • No trace is kept of a cancelled or failed print.
