Rooms

Purpose

The Rooms module declares each establishment's room stock: their number, their floor and their type. It is this stock that feeds the plan on the dashboard, the housekeeping tasks, the maintenance work orders and the bookings.

The module is visible to accounts holding the Hotel management right.

The room list

Column	Content
N° chambre	The room number.
Étage	The floor it is on.
Type	Its type, drawn from Room types.
Capacité	The number of people, taken from the type.
Statut	Libre, Occupée, Ménage or Maintenance.
Actions	✏️ Modifier and 🗑️ Supprimer.

Capacity comes from the type, not from the room

It is not entered room by room: it is inherited from the type. Changing a type's capacity therefore changes it for every room of that type — see Room types.

The four statuses

Status	Meaning
Libre	The room is available.
Occupée	A guest is staying in it.
Ménage	A cleaning task is under way.
Maintenance	Technical work is holding it out of service.

The status is not set here

It follows from activity: a booking in progress, a housekeeping task or a maintenance work order with a block. No field on the room record lets you force it.

Searching and filtering

Filter	Values
Hôtel	Tous les hôtels, or one establishment.
Étage	Tous, or a floor of the hotel selected.
Type	Tous, or a type available in that hotel.
Search	By room number.

The filters condition one another

The Étage and Type lists only offer the values that exist for the hotel selected. So choose the hotel first.

The message « Aucune chambre ne correspond aux filtres sélectionnés. » signals too restrictive a selection.

Creating a room

Click the ➕ button at the top of the screen: the Nouvelle chambre window opens.

Field	Required	Description
Hôtel	✔	The establishment it belongs to.
N° de chambre	✔	The number — e.g. 201.
Étage	✔	Chosen among the floors declared for the hotel.
Type de chambre	✔	The type, among those available for that hotel.

All four fields are required. Confirm with Créer la chambre.

Choose the hotel first

As long as no hotel is selected, the type list displays « Choisissez d'abord un hôtel »: types, like floors, depend on the establishment.

The room is created as "Libre"

The window says so: « La chambre sera créée avec le statut « Libre » par défaut. » There is no status field at creation time.

The floors offered come from the hotel's record

If the floor you want does not appear, the number of floors declared on the establishment's record is not high enough. Increase it in Hotels, then come back and create the room.

Editing a room

Click the ✏️ icon on the row: the Modifier la chambre window opens with the saved values.

Deleting a room

Click the 🗑️ icon on the row, then confirm the request « Voulez-vous vraiment supprimer la chambre … ? ».

Only vacant rooms can be deleted

If the room is Occupée, in Ménage or in Maintenance, the application refuses and displays:

Suppression impossible — La chambre … est actuellement « … ». Seules les chambres libres peuvent être supprimées.

Free the room first: end the stay, validate the housekeeping task or close the maintenance work order.

Messages and troubleshooting

Situation	Message	What to do
No room displayed	Aucune chambre ne correspond aux filtres sélectionnés.	Widen the filters.
Deletion refused	Suppression impossible — … Seules les chambres libres peuvent être supprimées.	Free the room beforehand.
The save button stays greyed out	—	One of the four required fields is empty.
The Type de chambre list is empty	Choisissez d'abord un hôtel	Select the hotel, or create a type in Room types.
The floor you want is not offered	—	Increase the hotel's number of floors in Hotels.
The status does not match reality	—	Check the housekeeping tasks and the maintenance work orders in progress.
The capacity displayed is wrong	—	It comes from the type: correct it in Room types.
The session has expired	Automatic return to the sign-in screen	Sign in again; the entry in progress is lost.

Known limitations in this version

• A room's status cannot be forced manually: there is no way to block a room without creating a maintenance work order.
• No characteristic specific to the room: no floor area, no view, no particular facilities — everything comes from the type.
• No batch creation: rooms are entered one at a time, which is slow for a new establishment.
• No photo and no internal note on a room.
• No history per room: past stays, faults and cleanings cannot be viewed from this record.
