Room types

Purpose

A room type is a commercial category: Standard, Superior Double, Deluxe Suite. It carries everything the rooms of that category have in common — how many people it takes, the floor area, the facilities included and the VAT rate.

It is a structuring reference: rooms inherit from their type, and rates are set per type, not room by room.

The module is visible to accounts holding the Hotel management right.

The list of types

Column	Content
Type	The name of the type, with its description underneath.
Capacité	The number of adults, followed by children if there are any.
Superficie	In m², or — if it is not filled in.
Actions	✏️ Modifier and 🏷️ Tarifs.

The message « Aucun type de chambre défini. » means no type exists yet.

How capacity reads

It combines adults and children: 2 for two adults only, 2 + 1 enfant or 2 + 2 enfants when children are allowed for.

Creating a type

Click the ➕ button at the top of the screen: the Nouveau type de chambre window opens.

Field	Required	Description
Nom du type	✔	The name — e.g. Suite Deluxe.
Description	—	A short commercial description.
Adultes	✔	The maximum number of adults. Must be greater than zero.
Enfants	—	The maximum number of children on top.
Superficie (m²)	—	The room's floor area.
TVA (%)	—	The rate applicable to nights of this type.
Équipements inclus	—	The room's amenities, ticked from a list.

Confirm with Créer le type, or give up with Annuler.

The save button stays greyed out?

Only two things are checked: the name and a number of adults greater than zero. Everything else is optional — but the floor area and the facilities are what give the record its commercial value.

The list of facilities is fixed

These eight choices are defined in the application and cannot be added to from the interface. A facility that is not on the list — parking, kitchen, wheelchair access — will have to be mentioned in the description.

The description is your only free field

Use it for what the record cannot express: aspect, preferred floor, facilities outside the list. It is this text that appears under the type name in the list.

Editing a type

Click the ✏️ icon on the row: the Modifier le type de chambre window opens with the saved values.

A change spreads to every room of the type

Capacity, floor area and facilities are inherited by the rooms. Changing a type's capacity therefore changes the Capacité column of every room concerned in Rooms, including those currently occupied.

Check how many rooms are attached before reducing a capacity: bookings in progress may cover more people than the new limit.

Setting the rates

The 🏷️ Tarifs icon on the row opens the Rental rates screen positioned on that type. It is the most direct route to setting or checking a category's price.

Create the type before the rate

Rates attach to an existing type. The logical order is therefore: create the type, then set its rate, then declare the rooms.

Messages and troubleshooting

Situation	Message	What to do
No type displayed	Aucun type de chambre défini.	Create a first type with the ➕ button.
The save button stays greyed out	—	The name is empty, or the number of adults is zero.
The floor area shows —	—	It has not been filled in: optional.
A type does not appear on the room record	—	Check the hotel selected in Rooms.
A room's capacity changed by itself	—	The type was edited: capacity is inherited from it.
A facility is missing from the list	—	The list is fixed: mention it in the description.
A type cannot be deleted	—	Deletion does not exist in this version.
The session has expired	Automatic return to the sign-in screen	Sign in again; the entry in progress is lost.

Known limitations in this version

• No deletion of a type is possible: no button and no matching action.
• The list of facilities is fixed at eight values, which cannot be configured.
• No success message confirms creation or editing.
• No photo can be attached to a type, even though the description is presented as commercial.
• No room counter per type: nothing states how many rooms a change will affect.
• VAT is entered per type with no consistency check against the company's tax regime.
